Frequently asked Questions

I've never had a massage before, what can I expect?

Your dedicated massage therapist in Bath will welcome you to the treatment room where they will conduct a brief consultation to understand your general health and any medical issues including past and current illnesses, injuries or operations that may affect the massage.

They will discuss how you are feeling and what you are hoping to get from the treatment, areas to focus on and areas to avoid. This may well vary from session to session. They will also check with you regarding any allergies.

Your therapist will then step outside the room while you get undressed and onto the massage table.

Your massage therapist will check in with you from time to time during the massage to ensure your levels of comfort.

After the massage, your therapist will vacate the treatment room, and leave you to get up and get dressed. Your therapist will then return with a glass of water for you, over which you can discuss how the treatment went and how you are feeling. You will then be provided with aftercare advice and a follow up treatment plan if applicable, along with the opportunity to book further appointments before you leave.

It is important to stay hydrated following any body work, so please ensure you drink plenty of water throughout the rest of the day.

Will I need to undress completely?

Some clients are happy to undress completely whilst most prefer to undress to their underwear. Either way, rest assured, you will be covered by a towel or sheet. Your comfort is paramount to us, so if you have any concerns, please let us know prior to your treatment.

I have a lot of body hair – is that an issue?

As expert body workers, we are body positive and welcome all bodies in all their wonderful forms! Body hair, like so many things in life, is never an issue.

Should I talk during my massage?

Your therapist will check in with you at the start of your treatment to ensure your comfort on the massage table. They will also enquire, particularly at the start of the massage, how the pace and pressure is for you.

Please know that you can speak up at any stage if you are not comfortable, or if something does not feel quite right. If we don't know, we can't adjust!

Other than that, we try to keep the chat to a minimum. Some clients do like to chat throughout their massage and for those that do, it becomes part of their treatment. However, not everyone does, so please don't feel obliged to talk during your treatment. This is your precious time out to rest, relax and rejuvenate. Enjoy the peace and quiet and opportunity to just be…

What treatments do you offer?

We offer Swedish and Deep Tissue, Pregnancy and Post-Natal, Hot Stones, Acupressure Facial and Acupressure Foot Massages. Most of our massages are available in 30-, 45-, 60- and 90-minute durations.

What treatments do you specialise in?

We specialise in Swedish, Deep Tissue and Pregnancy Massage. Our Signature Massage is the 90-minute Swedish Massage.

What is the difference between Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage?

Both Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage use similar techniques, but with a different intent. Swedish, or Classical Massage as it is often known, is focused on stress reduction and relaxation. Deep Tissue Massage uses more focused, intense pressure, targeting the deeper layer of muscles with the aim of freeing up adhesions.

Do you cater for pregnant clients?

Yes! We offer massage to clients right throughout their pregnancies, though most clients prefer to wait until their second trimester (13 weeks +) before they get a massage. We are happy to massage you up to your due date and beyond.

What oils do you use?

We use Massage Liquiwax from Songbird Naturals, made here in Somerset! The liquiwaxes are nut and paraben free (Though please be advised they are produced in a facility that uses nut oils).

They do contain beeswax, so please advise us if you are vegan.

We also use aromatherapy blends by Freya Natural Therapy. These products are vegan and do contain sweet almond oil.

For facial work, we use Amphora Aromatics, made just up the road in Bristol. Most of the products we use from their range are nut free and vegan.

We also offer a plain jojoba oil for those with particular skin sensitivities.

Please advise us if you have any allergies or concerns.

Can I bring my own oils?

Of course! We use a variety of different blends to suit every mood and client, but you are more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Do you have a waiting area?

Unfortunately not at the moment - please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This allows us to clean and reset the treatment room between clients. We do, however, have access to a wonderful outside seating area within the courtyard which you are most welcome to make use of. There are also plenty of lovely independent coffee shops nearby.

Do you offer discounts or concessions?

We offer a 10% discount for all bundles of six massages paid for upfront. Please check our webpages and Instagram feed regularly for any other offers!

Can I buy a gift voucher?

Yes! We offer gift vouchers in any denomination which can be used as full or part payment against any treatment or treatment bundle. Vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of issue.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. We ask that should you need to change or cancel your appointment; you give us at least 24 hours' notice. All cancellations or “no shows” on the day of appointment, will be charged at the full appointment value.

If you are delayed in arriving, we will do our best to accommodate you based on our schedule. We thank you for your understanding.

How do I find you?

We are in Chapel Court, a secluded part of the St John's Foundation, tucked away behind the original Cross Bath. Despite its quiet location, we are just a minutes' walk away from the bustling shopping area near Primark, the Thermae Spa, and the Little Theatre Cinema.
